About Lucky Melissa

Melissa is an accomplished artist, author, wife, and mother. Melissa’s earliest memories are of doodling in her notebook and daydreaming of fantastic animals and faraway lands. As years passed, Melissa began to experiment with different media including charcoal, acrylics, oils, canvas, wood, and the occasional wall in her parents' home. 

As a teenager, her grandmother encouraged her to take an art class at her new high school which truly became a turning point in her life. 

Armed with a broad portfolio from class, Melissa applied to, and eventually graduated from, the art department at Brigham Young University. The head of the art department was astounded by Melissa’s vibrant use of watercolors and impressed by her original techniques to the point that she offered admission with a scholarship. Melissa credits her teachers for her improved understanding of color and light. 

Melissa Mitchell currently resides in Kimberly, ID with her husband, Brandon, and their six children.
